Gah! My annoying beast!

April 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So… I was all thrilled that I was going to post again when I hear a scratching… it happens again…and then there was shaking and a loud Meow right in my ear… then a beast rubbing against the back of my head who than proceeds to sit on my shoulder like a parrot. This cat was never meant to do that… she is a chunky munchkin… which makes her dense. Well, it must not have been comfortable for her either so she decides to try to get on my chest and proceeds to make the keyboard have tons of beeps and I’m furiously trying to be quiet since everyone else is sleeping. Stupid kitty… then she finally gets comfortable and now we are at a point where I’m laying back in the desk chair, she is sleeping and getting angry at me typing… Granted, I’m only able to type because I learned in gradeschool since her huge body makes it so I can’t see the keys nor can I move my arms much… just my right arm. My left arm is falling asleep because she is a beast.

Now, if you read the above, I apologize, I tend to rant stupid stories that no one really cares about.

Anyways, so I woke up this evening at my usual don’t have to go to work time and so much has changed! Apparently, we are getting a brand new uber cool fridge/freezer and get this! The folks listened to the renter (my) request! We are so getting one with a ice thing and a water thing on the door! I don’t even no the term but it is so cool! They are getting a fancy smancy one, totally awesome! Also, they actually checked the mail for once *gasp* and the first of many packages with gifts for my swap person arrived!! I’m quite excited because I think with every gift for my person, I bought myself something too so it is way too much fun.

I’m currently trying to figure out how to be more artsy and craftsy with for some things in the swap. I like to make and do art, but I’ll admit, I kind of suck at it. Sure my mom loves everything I do and my friends all go “That is way cool!” but they are being polite. I can tell. I’m mainly having problems trying to figure out how I want to do packaging and wrapping for some things. I’ll figure it out eventually, but still… I love sending presents but I hate sending things that don’t look cool or fun to unwrap. I’m even thinking about pulling out my sewing machine for this swap to see if I can make one last thing…who knows, I may find that I can sew straight! Hah! I can’t even cut straight (but please, if you ever see my mother walking around, don’t tell her if her hair is wavy…she had me trim it the other day and I think I did it straight but at first I had a definite slope going. I think it is ok now though.)

Ok..now for pictures of the beast, known as kitty (since I never did get around to naming the poor spoiled rotten thing), I had on my computer:

3 months

April 18, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Ok, so it has been three months…but I’ll admit, I was actually busy and doing stuff in that three months. Work wise, I passed boards making me an official RN and I’ve been cut off orientation so I’m all by myself in the dark scary workforce. (It really can be terrifying). I also am now on night shift which means on days off like today, or rather nights off, I can get extremly bored. I should clean but nah… I have decided to spin, knit play on ravelry, buy stuff, watch television. Needless to say, I will probably be posting more here to do something in the future. Problem is, I need a new camera or somehow need to figure out how to take better pictures with mine. I’ve been trying to take a good picture of one thing for like a month and I guess I’m just stupid.

So I know  the real question is, why am I on this thing after three months….what spurred it on. Surely it wasn’t just boredom. Well, it is that time of year again…SWAP TIME! MWAHAHAHA! I love swaps… I should probably just from now on join swaps year round so my blog is always used. I’m once again uber excited and I already spent a bit more than I meant to on my partner because well… I don’t pay attention as I’m buying and then all the sudden I see the total and I’m already committed but dang!

Anyways…this was totally uninformative (sorry swap person) but hey, at least I posted! THat is one step in the rightish direction!

Sigh.

January 19, 2008 · 2 Comments

Ever had one of those days? The kind of day where you know you have tons to do but don’t do a thing…that was today. And heck, probably tomorrow XD! What I need to be doing is getting my butt in gear and studying for boards….what have I been doing? Well… I’ve been really good at casting on and off for projects! I made my swap partner a dishcloth that was an interesting idea. It had my first bobble and I did it crappily (in my opinion) so I just wasn’t happy. Needless to say, I cast on for a small scarf thing. More like an ascot (I think that is what they are called.) I saw it in their Ravelry queue so I made it for them in Malabrigo….As I was making it, I wasn’t quite sure what to think of it but to tell you the truth the thing grew on me. I now get why someone would make one. It is quick, cute, and took less than half of my ball of yarn. Not bad… so I think my swap package is complete. The only thing I don’t have in it is a pattern because I hate picking out patterns for people. What if they already have it or what if they don’t like it? It is a vicious cycle…

Other knitting things…. I’m almost done with my first sock for one of my test knitting project… I have such monster feet it is scary. I never realized how huge my feet were until I started making myself socks. Then the other pair I’m test knitting I got the yarn in the mail the other day. It is interesting…I’ve never used yarn with elastic in it and the texture is interesting. I’m working on the foot of that sock.

Tomorrow I so need to work on school stuff…and do laundry. But I also need to spin up some yarn…. I guess I need to set priorities (yarn XD I mean, come on… It is for a birthday gift and I have a theme in my head and I need to get most of it done a month in advance so I don’t go all crazy).

Hope anyone who sees this has a good day! Ciao

Stuff I like…

January 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

I decided in case the person who has me needs to know more about me because I was rather generic, I’d put stuff about me that I like here.

Colors: I love blues, greens, purples, browns, etc…basically cool and neutral colors. Those are my favorite! However I still love bright neon colors, rich jewel tones, earthy colors, heathered colors, and warm tones… there are few colors I don’t like. I also like colors that go together. Two of my favorite combos are red/white/black and then bright green/blue/pink/purple/black. I love those colors mixed together.

Animals: I love penguins. I’m a penguin freak… I don’t know when that happened but it did. I also love the weird animals of the world (hence why I have a munchkin cat). I like bats, flying squirrels, prairie dogs, chinchillas, alpacas, butterflies, etc. I also like those hairless cats… I think they are so ugly that they are adorable. I saw a picture of one hiding under a bed and it looked like an evil gremlin… I really wanted to buy it but $950 for a cat is a bit much. Mine was free so my munchkin will do for me XD

Things that make me smile: a great shopping trip, getting mail (any kind), being able to find exactly what I want in my room, fanfiction, tv shows, watching movies, playing with animals

Favorite things to knit: really complicated patterns, toys, scarfs, hats, mittens, I like socks, lace etc… I don’t make many garments because they would be huge and since a goal of mine is to lose weight, they wouldn’t fit for long anyways thus making it a waste… then again, I could just make it a size or two small and work to wearing it.

Things I collect: Trolls (yes those old dolls with the hair… I’ve had them for ages…and many of them), bobble heads (I don’t know how that one started….), yarn, trashy romance novels, DVDs (I love movies!), TV Series (I have over 20 seasons of shows….maybe over 30 seasons… I love sales, have I mentioned that?)

5 Things I couldn’t live without:

  • My Joss Whedon stuff (Covers Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Serenity *sigh* I love Buffy and Spike)
  • BBCAmerica (Why don’t I live where the good shows are? Yay Doctor Who and Torchwood and Robin Hood and My Family and Catherine Tate and and….)
  • My Family and friends (includes pets of course… and no this list isn’t in the right order I realize this)
  • Fanfiction and Fanart (Where all my dreams can come true…It is a sad addiction but makes me smile)
  • Music (I love music… I love any music… I love hearing new music, old music, sad music, fun music. Songs with words or instrumentals… My style is very eclectic and I’m always up for new things. )

Number one thing I type:   …I mean really…as if you didn’t notice the ab1undance of …

Favorite Fiber: Toss up… I love Merino, Alpaca, Silk, Bamboo, Tencel blends… Yummy

That should help my partner XD

I’m an adult!

January 10, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’m officially an adult! I actually started working a real job…where I earn an actual amount of money and will be getting benefits. I’ll be damned! I’m quite proud of myself right now…I get paid next week! Yay me!

Now for more interesting topics… I am still working on my room and mailing my package. It is hard to do stuff when I’m actually at a real job and get home all sleepy. Needless to say, I’m giddy for Friday. Actually I can’t wait till I get to night shift…mornings are hard for me. I have been taking pictures of my stash and some projects too.

I have been working on a pair of cool socks, they are toe up which is a first for me. I am a test knitter because I found this group on ravelry and it is awesome! Free pattern and in the next case I’ll be getting some free yarn to do the pattern! How awesome is that! I also made my mom a washcloth the other day…which there is a story behind. For Christmas, my mom does this Alfie the Elf thing. (We didn’t do Santa…he was too busy for us so he’d send an elf named Alfie to help out.) Alfie brings a gift in the beginning/middle of December and every day you unwrap a layer and get a small present till the last day where you get a big one. This was just a preholiday thing that helped us get all excited. A couple of years ago, I started making my mom Alfie gifts in return, and this year I was doing a bunch of homemade things with my store bought things. I needed one last thing so I put in this horrible dishcloth I made that really did suck. It was my first ever entrelac and while it was ok, it was extremely loose, had some gaps etc. I told my mom she didn’t have to use it and I’d make her a better one in the future. Needless to say, she and my dad use the dumb thing constantly…they love it. They think homemade washcloths are amazing because they are more absorbant, the get bigger in water, and they are tough…So mom kept hinting that she’d like more and I’m the obliging girl who loves being told that something is so cool! Heh, mom is now offering to buy me cotton yarn to keep her dishcloth stash growing. It is great for me because I like doing dishcloths now and then for a small quick project or to test new techniques…plus my mom’s Christmas gift has totally just decreased in cost (Just kidding…maybe). Instead of spending tons of money on something she may never use, I can make dishcloths for about 75 cents a piece (not including labor costs) and have fun doing it. I really do love knitting….

Last thing, I’m selfishly promoting a blog contest to get another entry…I have no shame! It is an easy one so go check it out and enter here.

Ah ha!

January 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The beeping stopped!!!! Hallelujah, praise the Lord! Granted, I never figured out what it was nor am I fully convinced that it is over. With my luck tomorrow it will start again.

On a more knitterly front, I got a package today…. yummy yarn I ordered, granted, not what I was expecting, but yummy all the same. It reminded me that I have to go to the yarn store tomorrow (aw, damn XD). I need to get the rest of my malabrigo swap person’s present. I think I have the yarn covered, but want to look into getting some notions or something. Then I have to go to a store to buy stuff to make the present pretty and fun. I love making gifts… bad thing is I spend way more time and effort than I should. I swear that I’ve stalked my person for days now… I read his or her entire blog since he or she started it. I think I’ve found a couple of ways to make the swap more personalized and meaningful, I hope. My biggest concern is that I can’t find a pattern that I necessarily think he or she will enjoy with the yarn and I have no clue what notions to buy if any. I’m utterly stupid. This person seems really cool though and I’d love to meet him or her in person some day. The blog was a great read and there were some posts where I was just like, “Holy crap you are a cool person”. *Sigh* I’m not that cool.. I’m rather boring. I can sum up my life in less than a paragraph and it would be pretty complete. (Granted, if you were to talk to me in person I could go on and on about myself and my adventures. I’m a great story teller, I have hand gestures and everything!) I haven’t done much yet either. Then again, I’m a young one so hopefully I have a while to fix that!

I just realized that I’m about to have to grow up… I start a real job on Monday. That kind of sucks. On the bright side though, I’ll have a paycheck! Sweet!

Stupid beep

January 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I’m sitting on my bed…knitting and reading fanfiction (my guilty pleasure that I’d die without) when out of the blue this electronic beep goes off… in one minute it will happen again. It has been happening all day….every three minutes there is a beep. I can’t find the source regardless of how often I look and at first I thought it was in my head. But no, it really is there. It is just going off and slowly ripping apart my sanity. The bad thing is that one minute it will be in one section of the room and the next time it goes off it will be in another part of the room. I don’t have any moving electronics in my room so all I can think is that the beep is just there to annoy me. I made my brother sit in my room for three minutes just to listen to it (to verify I am not a complete crazy!) He was being a butt though… all he did was giggle at me the whole time and laugh at my inner dialogue that I apparently was rambling aloud. Stupid beep…

Eeps…

December 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

As I was putting my room together I decided to take pictures of my fiber stash since it was all around me and my camera was nearby. I’m slightly embarrassed to say that I took over 44 pictures…Each picture was something separate and all but 3 weighed at least 3-4 oz…many being 8oz… I think I need to stop buying fiber (as I place one last order for the year…I need to order a real batt from someone who makes them a lot so I can see if I’m doing it right or not.)  I guess my goal should be to use half of my stash before buying more fiber… dratz… Guess I’ll have to set a side a day of the week for spinning. XD

So, yeah.

December 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

So I’m doing my first ever swap! Finally a chance for me to spend money on someone else and get something back that is just as cool and a complete surprise! I’m giddy, my money is screaming to be spent and I got my person to spoil. I’m way too excited about buying stuff for another person… Anyways, as I was stalking my person’s blog and ravelry pages, I realized I should probably start posting more on my blog and ravelry pages so my person isn’t totally clueless about me. I kind of anwsered the questions crappily on the survey and I like pretty much everything so all in all the poor person who has me will have a vague sense that I’m easy to please and that’s it. I’ll work on that.

Since I’ve officially moved back home, I finally decided to get my junk together… Somehow I have to combine my full room with my full apartment in a tiny space and apparently I need to do a complete sweep of things to keep and give away. (I also need to figure out how to combine my two stashes I piled up, my college stash and my home stash. Both way too big and I really should stop buying yarn but what can I say, I’m an addict who enjoys buying herself presents). Now, I’m moving my entire room around which will create a better space for all my crafts and my sewing machine. Granted what I really want to do is put pictures up online of my stash and projects for my swap person… Luckily it isn’t too hard for me to resist right now since I haven’t set up my computer which has my camera’s program to upload the pictures and I’m too lazy to put it on the laptop. I think that will be my goal for tonight.

 Till whenever

Paying it forward…

December 12, 2007 · 1 Comment

Tee hee… I’m done with school! And I get to graduate! Yay me! Anywho… I saw this at Dark Oak Woman’s blog and it looked like fun:

“I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this Pay It Forward exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.”

Wanna play? Leave a comment with your email address and I’ll contact you for your mailing address (USA only please…I’m not good with the international shipping yet) and you will get something in the mail eventually. If you decide to play, put this on your own blog and pay it forward by sending handmade items to the first three commenters you have!

Granted, this will probably take awhile with my blog but still, the thought that counts!
